On August 14th, 2013, host by the China Instrument Society Branch, organized by East China Institute of Technology (ECIT), an seminar was held to discuss the feasibility of building up a Sino Swiss Center. High officers from Ministry of Science and Technology of Peoples’ Republic of China, China Instrument Society of Instrument Branch, Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology participated the seminar. The conclusion is quite positive, every parties would like to push the Center forward.

To follow up, ECIT and Jiangxi Provincial Department of Science and Technology are organizing delegations repetitively to Switzerland, probably in October or November, in order to strengthen the cooperation on education and precision manufacturing.

Starting from food safety issue, Mass Spectrometer (MS) is one of the most important instrument to detect the chemical element contained in the food. At present, MS is only limited in laboratory, there is an need to make MS portable and less expensive to measure food safety along the supply chain. ECIT has the basic knowledge of the Mass Spectrometer technology and SUPSI has the precision manufacturing knowledge, the two institutes could combine their strength and knowledge. swissnex China, as well as Consulate General of Switzerland in Guangzhou will help to spread the cooperation among the Swiss institutions and companies who are interested in the center.
