IFIL Initiative For Intercultural Learning Visit 2013

It is not the first time for swissnex China to welcome a delegation from IFIL Initiative For Intercultural Learning, and we were pleased to have them here again on this year’s intercultural study trip through China.

Their program was packed! Well, after all it’s not a vacation, right? Therefore they made sure to get as much as possible out of it, and created an interesting and very versatile program. From Chinese calligraphy to visiting companies and universities, from KTV to traditional sightseeing, and more…they did it!

Coming to swissnex China, we prepared a little program for them, aiming on giving them an overview of different aspects related to our activities and work, and in a short time. Mrs. Anna Mattei, Head of Section Culture, Media and Education, Consulate General of Switzerland gave an introduction on Swiss businesses located in the Shanghai area, followed by Mr. Pascal Marmier, Executive Director swissnex China who shared insights on his experience by reviewing on his “1 Year Shanghai”. Later Mr. Kilian Widmer, Trade Promotion Director Swiss Business Hub China, Head of Shanghai Office gave the students an introduction on the activities of the Swiss Business Hub Shanghai, emphasizing on latest changes due to the FTA (Free Trade Agreement). Mr. Michael Lehmann, Partner at sim (selective international management) shared his longtime experience working in a consulting company based in Shanghai and also explained some of the do’s and don’ts of doing business in China. The final presentation was given by Xiao Zi Ding, Senior Associate at ELEVATE who showed us their current projects in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility.

Due to the broad variety of topics and the revealing information all speakers shared, the Q&A session almost transformed into an additional panel discussion. The students very much appreciated having the chance to ask the experts present directly, and get answers from them first hand and with even more detail information.
