This year, the 3rd edition of the Sino-Euro BioPartnering, held in May, welcomed more than 300 participants. Sino-Euro BioPartnering (SEBP) is a collaborative annual event that proposes a cost-effective and tailor-made business platform for European SMEs whom are interested in the Chinese market. Its goal is to create a platform for companies from both China and Europe to seek partnership. SEBP benefits from an exclusive network of Chinese firms in the medical and pharmaceutical fields as well as the support of some influential associations (e.g. CPEA, CCCMHPIE, EBE, CEBR…). Thus, it was a great chance for European companies to connect with Chinese partners. To this effect, around 30 European company projects have been presented during the event.
A notable attendee was China business platform (CBP), which is operated by the Office of Economy and Labour of the Canton of Basel-Stadt as a trade and investment platform with the aim of facilitating business relations between China and Northwestern Switzerland. The platform led a delegation of 4 innovative Life Sciences start-ups from Basel to attend the SEBP event in Shanghai.
Another highlight of the stay in Shanghai was a tour at the famous Shanghai Clinical Research center and the excellent Zhongshan Hospital where the Basel delegation had an interesting Q&A session with senior doctors. CBP paid a visit to swissnex China in Shanghai as well, in order to know more about our operations and get further insights.
Overall, during this year's SEBP, the companies each had the opportunity to present their projects. It turned out to be an excellent partnering platform, especially with the B2B meetings that were held, where most of companies met with many potential business partners and investors. swissnex China participated in this conference as a sponsor and we were able to promote our institution and member companies to the audience during this conference. Our CEO, Pascal Marmier, participated as one of the sessions' moderators.
